An Italian University, Academically Connected to Canada
Unicollege is an Italian degree-awarding university accredited by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and operating within the European Higher Education Area.
Its academic environment combines the experience of studying at an Italian university with an international structure designed to facilitate academic mobility, curricular recognition, and institutional cooperation with universities and colleges across Canada.
English serves as the principal language of instruction across international programs and as a common working language connecting students, faculty, and professional staff. At the same time, multilingual education remains central to the University's identity: degree-seeking students pursue advanced foreign-language study within a portfolio of ten languages. This combination creates an academic community that is accessible to English-speaking students while remaining inherently international and multilingual.
Today, Unicollege collaborates with more than 90 partner institutions across over 40 countries, supporting the continuous circulation of students, faculty, and academic expertise.
Canada within the Unicollege International Network
North America represents one of the principal areas of Unicollege's international activity. Through direct relationships with universities and colleges across Canada and the United States, Unicollege develops semester and year-abroad programs, reciprocal exchanges, double degrees, faculty-led programs, summer and language programs, academic continuation pathways, and faculty mobility.
More than 40 institutions across North America participate in different forms of academic cooperation with Unicollege, including established relationships with Canadian universities and colleges. These collaborations are based upon a common principle: international mobility should remain an integral part of a student's academic career rather than operate separately from it.
For this reason, programs are developed institution to institution, with academic departments, international offices, and faculty directly involved in curricular alignment and mobility planning.
Designed for Academic Compatibility
Unicollege has structured its international academic framework to facilitate cooperation with North American higher education.
Standard courses comprise 45 academic contact hours and are normally structured according to the three-semester-credit model commonly used across the United States and Canada, alongside their corresponding Italian and European credit values.
Academic records are prepared in English, and transcripts provide the course, credit, grading, and institutional information required by partner universities for academic evaluation. Grading information is similarly presented in formats designed to facilitate interpretation within North American systems. This allows Canadian students and their home institutions to approach mobility through an academic structure that is transparent, intelligible, and designed to support the recognition process upon return.
University to University
Unicollege develops its international initiatives through direct university-to-university partnerships. As the accredited host institution, Unicollege retains direct responsibility for curriculum, faculty, assessment, academic records, transcripts, student support, and institutional quality assurance.
This model preserves academic oversight throughout the mobility experience and enables Canadian universities and colleges to communicate directly with the institution delivering the education. It also creates opportunities that are not always available within provider-based study abroad models. Where reciprocal agreements are in place, students may participate in tuition-reciprocal semester or year-abroad programs, allowing them to remain enrolled at their home institution without paying additional host-university tuition.
Depending on the student's home institution, funding arrangements, and bilateral agreement, existing scholarships or institutional financial support may also remain applicable during the mobility period. The objective is not simply to facilitate travel to Italy, but to ensure that international education remains academically integrated, financially accessible, and institutionally accountable.
An English-Speaking, Multilingual Academic Community
